What is HopeWell?

During the deepest, thickest, most isolating part of the Covid-19 pandemic when we were told to stay home, to cancel Christmas, to not see our friends and family... I was providing outpatient counselling at a local hospital.

There was a looming sense of sadness, loneliness, and hopelessness all around. It was during these times that I often reflected on something I was taught in graduate school:

"As a Social Worker, it is our job to lend hope."

During the depths of these times, how badly we all sought after hope.

🌻 Hope that the pandemic would end

🌻 Hope to be together again

🌻 Hope that life would eventually return "back go normal"

And in my work during this time, I was constantly lending and making efforts to instill hope for brighter tomorrow's. There were days when I, too, felt hopeless and wondered if we would ever find ourselves on the other side of this. There were days when I felt that I was lending out hope that I didn't even have.

And so as I began to think of developing a private practice, this idea of a HopeWell came to me. The HopeWell that will not run dry. Together, we will find a sense of hope that, at times, may feel like the only thing we have to hold onto. Being in the thick of it sure can feel t h i c k, and we will find the other side, together.

My friends, hold onto hope. Hope will lead you home. 🤝
